SAP certification is considered to be a one-way ticket to a mouth-watering career in the field of consulting. Today, far more companies need SAP consultants than in the years gone by. An SAP consulting job is a recession proof one as consultants are more in need when companies are in trouble.
Define a Plan for SAP Certification
Let’s refer few tips on how to go about preparing for a SAP certification/ from our experience. Understand that failing to plan is planning to fail. So, plan before starting the study. The first thing to do is to get the syllabus copy from the SAP website. It will give you an idea about which topics are important as far as SAP certification is concerned.
Next, understand how many days or months SAP has allocated you to complete the training. If you are a classroom trainer then you have around 10 to 25 days depending on the course you have chosen. If you are an online trainer, then you will have around five months depending on the course selected. This is very crucial if you are also a working professional.
Execute Your Plan
First, plan at a macro level. Let us say; you have five months. You need to divide your time properly. For example, give three to three and a half months for studying once through thoroughly. Next, give one month for review. And fifteen days for your second review which most people do just before the certification exam.
Next, plan at the micro level. In the three months given for the first study, you need to plan weekly which topics you will be covering. If you have no one to guide you, use a rough estimate of how many pages you need to cover by dividing the total number of pages by ninety days (three months). So this gives you an idea of one day's plan. Use this to plan the weekly schedule. Do not forget to keep a day, preferably the week end, to browse through the week’s portion that you covered. This will reduce the efforts while revising. Keep the number of hours of study fixed daily.
Prepare With Only Syllabus Books Defined by SAP
Refrain from wavering from matter given in the books. Many people have this habit of searching for more information over and above that is given in the books. You can do it if you have a lot of spare time. We recommend you to stick to the books as SAP has created the books keeping in mind what you need to know when taking the certification test. Also, SAP has distributed the knowledge in such a way that you will find an explanation to topics covered in the first book in the subsequent books. This also helps in revising already learned concepts. If you need extra knowledge, you can refer to SAP help on SAP website.
Clear your doubts on Exam Syllabus
Make sure that you write down all the doubts that come in your mind in a separate book or in a separate e-diary. Few people clear them as soon as they arise. Some prefer to wait till they complete reading the full course material. Whatever method you follow, make sure you note the doubts as soon as they arise in a diary which is always available at your side.
It helps to meet with fellow students in the classroom. Discuss what you have learned using examples so that what you learned is very strong in your mind. Interaction with your peers gives you that extra confidence.
You may also use the online forums to do this. Ask relevant questions to the experts. Read the doubts and answers already posted. Answer new ones if you can so that what you learned solidifies. Solve questions relevant to certification once you have done your first review. If you feel you are not able to answer them, just read the answers and try to link with what you know. Keep reviewing the books.
Prepare with SAP Online Practice Exam

Set aside all the other work on the day of the exam. Go half an hour early so that you are not stressed before taking the exam. Remember, haste is the waste.
